Fakes of luge1952

This seller offered a Nakhimov medal on eBay.de and called it a ‘Seltene Variante’ (rare variation) of a duplicate award. Its actually a cast copy made of lead and the seller refused a return. He is located at Naumburg, Bad Kösen, goes by the name Lutz Gerstenlauer and his email adres is lutz.gerstenlauer@t-online.de. Below I have attached some images of the ‘rare duplicate’ Nakhimov medal he sold as being original.

Be extra careful buying from this person!

Fakes of dmitrivlasso_0 (Dmitriy Vlassov)

A follower of this website was kind enough to help us by reporting another fraud on eBay.de. The sellers sells both fakes as original and original items which have been repaired without mentioning this. This user is located at Am Hohen Hause 4 in Hamburg, Germany and goes by the name Dmitry Vlassov. His IBAN bank account number is DE45200505501304400805 (or DE45 2005 0550 1304 4008 05). I have attached some examples of a fake Medal of Ushakov #2048 he was selling as being original and an Order of the Great Patriotic War with all enamels replaced. The scammer deliberately makes bad pictures of the details you need to see of some items in order to get away with his fraudulent business. The enamels of the Order of the Great Patriotic War 2nd class below for example are hard to see in detail. Even some of his cheaper items like a medal for the Defense of Leningrad are copies.

Since this person doesn’t allow payments by PayPal, the chances of getting your money back are slim. Be extra careful buying from people who don’t accept PayPal, in particular this scammer!

Fakes of eMedals.com

Not only eBay has its fair share of frauds. eMedals.com is another platform where many fakes are offered. For instance this set supposedly awarded to a Soviet pilot. There are many tells why this group is bad and I will go into details about them later but to start: The hero, Nikolai Fyodorovich Denchik (Николай Фёдорович Денчик), was NEVER awarded the Hero Star number #9471. As can be seen on warheroeswarheroes he was awarded number #2819! I contacted eMedals and explained the situation and gave them a chance to correct the listing because they might not have known the set contained copies. Unfortunately I received no reply and the set was sold for $11070 a few days later! Therefore I can conclude they are knowingly selling fake medals!!!

I made a screenshot of the web page and posted it below for you to see. I also encircled some of the tells why this group is bad even though this shouldn’t even be necessary because the serial number of the Hero Star says it all!

Collectors be aware!

Fakes of miss.torgovlya-7 and medalionsussr

A new Russian scammer located in St Petersburg is active on eBay. This person is selling all sorts of high end items. Currently a Bogdan 1st class and a Red Banner 4th award are in his shop. He just managed to sell a fake order of Glory 1st class for $2200… (picture below). When looking at the background this fraud is using this person is the same scammer as medalionsussr under which name he (or his partner in crime) is also selling fake Soviet items.

The other items of this fraud can be found here and here

Update: the fraud I am talking about contacted me many times and insisted that his items were authentic. Therefor I will show you some other fakes he is selling and tell you why they are copies/alterations. I highlighted the points where you can spot why they are copies and placed some original ones for comparison. Please notice the ‘broken fingers’ and the ‘missing corner’ of the fake Friendship Among Nations order of miss.torgovlya-7. The medal for Distinguished Labor he is selling is of a later type. Note that the ‘N’ on the reverse is engraved and not stamped as it should be. On the obverse you can clearly see that the two ‘T’s are wider apart.

Judge for yourself who is right here 🙂

Fakes of zerov-2018-1

Boy o boy, I though we discussed the biggest idiot ever last blog but this fraud from Kazakhstan is even worse… With only a few feedback he is selling one of the rarest Soviet awards available; a Nakhimov Order 1st class. People are bidding on it already. And indeed, the item in the pictures is authentic… But wait… Haven’t we seen those pictures before?!?!… (Mondvor) He also stole the pictures of a Nevsky Order from a forum and the pictures of the Suvorov 2nd class on a suspension are from the Mondvor website too.

This ‘seller’ does most certainly not own the items he is trying to sell. So buyers be aware!!!!

Fakes of viktovitushinsk_0

Well, this scammer from Russia must be the village idiot… The only feedback he has is from one seller where he bought multiple items. Wonder what those items are…? Fake award booklets… Yes, the very same award booklets he uses to ‘match’ his fake awards with. Gosh… some people…

Fakes of done-2017

Strangely enough his seller is both located in Lithuania and Lichtenstein. His residence is most likely located in the first country. Anyway, wherever he is, most of his items are fakes but not sold as such. Below pictures of two of his copies. An order of Bogdan Khmelnitsky 3rd class and a Red Banner 4th award. Both are available for a price far below the current market value but still way too expensive for a copy. His third item, a common Lenin Order, is authentic. Strangely enough this is the only award being available above the market price. Funny isn’t it? This user has changed his eBay name quite a lot during the past years. Makes you wonder…

These were his names he used before on eBay:

Fakes of romastemplevic-0

romastemplevic-0 is another fraud who is knowingly selling fake and ‘upgraded’ orders and medals. Supposedly the seller is located in the US but I very much doubt that. Below two examples. A Red Banner of Labor screwback which is made out of a late suspension type order. Also a Liberation of Belgrade medal which is fake. Note the berries which are in line with the center stripe of Russian ‘ж‘. This should not be the case and is often seen with bad fakes.

Fakes of skipercolections

Another Ukrainian fraud is skipercolections. This scammer has not sold any items before but all of a sudden he is offering us high end items like a Bogdan 1st class and a Nakhimov order 2nd class. Below some examples he is selling. The Bogdan is a fake made from scratch and the Red Banner 4th award is most likely a Red Banner 2nd award which is tweaked to look like a 4th award.

Fakes of v12roots-9

Another Ukrainian scammer on eBay is v12roots-9. He has been around since January 2016 and sold three items yet. Two Nakhimov and one Odessa medal. All under $200… Now his third Nakhimov is under the hamer together with a suspension type Kutuzov 3rd class and a Nakhimov order 2nd class… all with booklets.

Below som pictures of his ‘gems’.

Buyers be warned!
